 About the author 

Jayanthi Papa Rao (born in 1938 in Andhra Pradesh, India) writes for true democracy and social equality i.e. classless and caste less society. He began writing in Telugu in 1957 in pursuit of this vision, He believes strongly that creative writings work as a strong weapon to create awareness among the people to unite and fight against the social discrimination, injustice, corruption and other similar evils.

Pursuing this vision he wrote and published over a hundred short stories, a novel and six research books in Telugu. He also edited and published four collections of short stories and essays based on the literature written by well known writers.

He trans created his Telugu novel into English titled " The Gift Packet". It was published by writers workshop, Kolkata in 2005. Fifty of his short stories were translated into Hindi and Twenty into Malayalam by eminent translators and the collections were published by reputed publishers. 

Research was also carried out on his literature leading to M. Phil; PhD and D.Litt. degrees. 

He brought out a centenary collection of hundred short stories (1910 to 2009) in 2010. The collection starts with the  first modern short story in Telugu written by Gurajada Appa Rao  published in 1910. The unique feature of this collection is - one short story of one writer for each year beginning from 1910 was selected in chronological and historical research order. These stories reflect the social, political and cultural transformations and advancements that took place during the last 100 years.

Similarly 100 short stories were analyzed and a centenary study (1910-2009) was  published in 2012.

He wrote and published in 2013 a book titled-Prachina Katha- Prasthanam (Bharatiya Katha- Telugu Katha) which is a unique research work. Bharatiya Katha took its origin in Rig Veda 6000 years ago. This is a historical research of 6000 years Katha Yatra. The research reviewed both Bharatiya Katha and Telugu Katha in folklore, Vedic, Bouddha and Jain Literature and further transformations and advancements in 20 katha kavyas till the modern short stories birth in 19th Century. Representative stories were also analyzed and summarized. 

Aadhunika Katha Prasthanam is another unique research work.  The modernity in India and modern Indian short story took its roots and grew without the influence of western culture. It is not a new genre borrowed from western short story, but one modernized and modified genre of Indian Janapadha Katha and Pracheena Katha.  It came up in the modernized genre in the wake of the Indian peoples social and political movements to create awareness about the movements among the people and make them participate actively in the movements. This fact was proved in this research work using historical facts.

He holds Master Degree in Economics, belongs to S.A.S. and has ICAWAI (I) qualification. He served in central government and retired as an officer in 1994.


జయంతి పాపారావు   గురించి 

జయంతి పాపారావు  1938 లో విశాఖపట్నం జిల్లా, నర్సీపట్నం తాలుకాలో సీతన్నగ్రహారంలో జన్మించారు. తండ్రి పేరు సత్యనారాయణ, తల్లి పేరు వెంకటరత్నం. 1961లో లలితతో వివాహం, ఆమె కుటుంబ బాధ్యతలు  చూస్తునారు. ముగ్గురు  కొడుకులు, కోడళ్ళు స్వయంకృషితో ఉన్నతవిద్య చదివి మంచి ఉద్యోగాలు చేస్తున్నారు. అయిదుగురు మనవరాలులు  చదువుతోపాటు సంగీతం, నృత్యం నేర్చుకుంటున్నారు.

చదువు: M.A. (Econs); S.A.S.; ICWAI(I)

ఉద్యోగం: కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వ సర్వీసులో ఆఫీసారుగా పని చేసారు. 1994లో పదవీ  విరమణ చేసారు 

రచనలు: 1957నుంచి రాస్తున్నారు, ఇప్పటివరకు  100కు  పైగా కధానికలు, ఒక  నవల, ఆరు సాహిత్య అధ్యయన గ్రంధాలు రచించారు. మూడు గ్రంధాలకు సంపాదకునిగా పనిచేసి ప్రచురించారు. నాలుగోది-కహాని కైసిహొ - అనే తెలుగు కథల హిందీ అనువాద సంకలనానికి సంపాదకుడు.

అనువాదాలు: వెదుకుతూ..వెంటాడుతూ..వేటాడుతూ..అనే తన తెలుగు నవలను జయంతి పాపారావు సొంతముగా అనువదించారు. రైటర్స్ వర్క్ షాప్, కొలకత్తా- The gift packet -పేరున 2005 లో ప్రచురించారు . ఈ తెలుగు నవలను- 50 కధలను- ప్రొఫెసర్ ఏస్. శేషారత్నం హిందీలోకి అనువదించారు. హిందీ సంస్థాన్, లక్నో- కే.కే. పబ్లికేషనన్స్, న్యూఢిల్లీ ప్రచురించారు, 20 కధలను- ఎల్.ఆర్.స్వామి మళయాలంలోకి అనువదించారు. ఫేబియన్ బుక్స్, మావేళీకర (కేరళ) ప్రచురించారు.

పరిశోధనలు:
జయంతి పాపారావు సాహిత్యంపై- M Phil; Ph.D; D. Litt- పట్టాల కోసం పరిశోధనలు జరిగాయి. ఆ సిద్ధాంత గ్రంధాలు ప్రచురింపబడ్డాయి , హిందీలో- Dr. Chitra Mudgal – జయంతి పాపారావు- సాహిత్యం- తులనాత్మక అధ్యయనం - Ph.D కోసం పరిశోధన 2011 లో జరిగింది.

ధృక్పధం:
ఏ వివక్షలు లేకుండా, అందరూ సమానంగా బాగుపడి సుఖించే వర్గరహిత సమసమాజ శాంతియుత ప్రజాస్వామ్య సహజీవన సంస్కృతి  కోసం రాస్తున్నారు .

Each year, commencing from 1910, one short story of one writer was selected in chronological and historical research order. These stories reflect the transformations and advancements of historical importance during the last 100 years and proved that literature could do what history could not. It is the first unique collection not only in Telugu, but also in other Indian languages.
